Wine stains are usually one of the most common problems for those having a party or gathering and they can be tough to remove. If you have a light color carpet, the stain can really ruin how it looks and will be visible immediately to any person or guest.

Removing wine stains may seem like quite a hassle but it is something that you can handle on your own. To help you out, here are some effective ways of removing wine stains from your carpet.

In the case of wine stains, you probably already have a number of items in your home already that can help you clean it out of your carpet. The key is to extract as much of the liquid as possible first and then begin your treatment.

· Ammonia Solution – Using ammonia can be very effective in removing wine stains. It is a common household product that can be found in many homes or bought in the supermarket. To make the ammonia solutions, mix 1 tablespoon of ammonia and 1 cup of water. Then, use a spray bottle and apply the mixture over the wine stain. Use of a clean towel or cloth to blot the area. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.

· Carpet Cleaning Agents – Using a carpet cleaning agent from the supermarket is also another option for removing wine stains. There are a lot of effective cleaning agents that are specifically designed for removing stains from your carpet. Always follow the instructions when using any product that you have chosen. Choosing brand name products is usually recommended in these situations as they are proven to be more effective, although they may cost a little bit more than other options.

Cleaning Makup From Carpet

By admin · Comments (0)

Many women have their favorite makeup product that they can always use to either make themselves feel better or to stand out just a little bit more. There’s that special lipstick or a bit of mascara that is used on those special occasions. Whatever it is, it can make a woman feel more beautiful and confident, and the fellas definitely appreciate it. But what happens when, in the middle of using your secret weapon, it finds its way onto your carpet? Stay calm ladies. There are cleaning techniques that you can use to get yourself out of these types of predicaments and back to dazzling your friends.

For white or colorless creams such as body lotion, moisturizer, or face cream the first thing you want to do is remove as much of the product from your carpet as possible. Use a plastic spoon or some sort of utensil to gently scrape and lift the product from your carpet. The next thing you want to do is absorb what you can by blotting the area with a clean towel. Don’t rub it in. Just blot. The goal is to get as much out as possible. After this you need to get another clean towel and apply some mild rubbing alcohol onto it. Use this towel to carefully blot the area until it is clean. Once you’ve removed the product from the carpet make sure to give it a rinse. Either blot with another clean towel that has been soaked with water or pour a small amount of water over the area, blot with a dry towel, and extract with a wet/dry vac.

This technique also works for tinted moisturizers, sun block, and liquid foundations. If you noticed, these additional items usually have a small amount of color added to them. To make sure to get this color out of your carpet you will need to mix in a spray bottle ¼ teaspoon of mild detergent and 1 quart of water. Apply the mixture to the area and blot it with a clean cloth. Again, rinse the area when you are finished cleaning and dry thoroughly.

The strategy for lipstick and rouge is the same as already described but in the reverse order. This time you would use the detergent and water mixture to blot the stain out. Rinse and then use the cloth with alcohol to blot some more. Again, make sure to rinse and dry completely.

Thick, dark, black fluids such as eyeliner, mascara, or liquid eyebrow applications tend to cling more to the carpet because they contain glue proteins, For this, use a concentrated dose of dishwashing soap. Apply a drop or two to the spot and let it work for a few minutes. Remove what you can with a clean towel and then proceed with the previously mentioned cleaning steps.

You may also use liquid laundry detergent to clean these areas. This product works well on eye shadow, blush and face powders. If you have a spot that is being difficult you can try some hydrogen peroxide. Apply some peroxide to a paper towel and lay it over the area. Put something weighty on top to apply constant pressure. Leave it for an hour or so. This should do the trick. If you happen to spill hair dye, call a professional carpet cleaner.

These cleaning steps are easy. Probably more easy than applying many of these products. Just remember to address any accidents immediately. The faster you are at your attempt the better chance you have of being successful.

Carpet Cleaning for Pet Lovers

By admin · Comments (0)

Once you decide to keep pets, you need to understand specific cleaning tips and tricks to keep the carpet clean. With pet dogs and cats, special attention needs to be allotted for carpet cleaning to protect the health of all household members, humans and animals alike.

A dirty carpet is one of the telltale signs of having an animal in the house – even before a guest meets your pet. Pet hairs, stains, and odors are more prominent if they stay too long on the carpet without being thoroughly cleaned. That’s why it is important to take extra time for carpet maintenance; especially if your furry friend is still being housetrained or potty trained.

Vigilant Vacuuming

If you have dogs or cats in your residence, you need to vacuum your carpet more often compared to pet-less houses. Everyday vacuuming is recommended, but three times a week should be sufficient. Even the cleanest pets can track dust and dirt into the house. And keep in mind that carpet fibers are the most likely surface odor-causing bacteria will adhere to.

Also, your dogs and cats shed hair, fur, and pet dander, large amounts, all of the time. This is a common cause of allergies in humans. Vacuuming with a machine with HEPA filters will ensure a more thorough elimination of all airborne particles that cause allergies, itchy eyes and skin, sneezing, or can trigger asthma.

Invest in a quality vacuum cleaner, preferably one with a bag where all the vacuumed-up dust and dander are automatically directed. This eliminates the need to take out the canister and transfer the contents into the trash, which can potentially let the allergen particles fly back into the air.

Pet Accident Emergency Response

When pet vomit falls on the carpet a lot of homeowners swear by the quick-response blot and dry method. This refers to the technique that requires scooping up the solid particles immediately after the incident, removing as much as you can, and then blotting away the moisture repeatedly until all the liquid has been absorbed. This is usually followed by dabbing the area with carpet cleaner or detergent solution, rinsing it by blotting with clean water, and letting it dry completely.

A new technique advised on CNN recommends a relatively minimum response system. When dealing with vomit, all you have to do is sprinkle a very generous amount of baking soda to completely cover the area. The natural abrasive and absorbent quality of baking soda soaks up the bile and acidic liquids from the carpet. You have to leave it for a few hours until it dries and then suck up everything with a vacuum until no stain is left.

Other Pet Lover Carpet Cleaning Tools

1. Dividers: Keep pets away from the carpet while cleaning or letting it dry. Place them in another area or install a pet gate. Another trick is to place crinkly foil or crisp plastic bags around the perimeter to keep pets away from the area. The rattling sound made by these materials can frighten most cats and dogs.

3. Enzyme-equipped cleaner: Cleaning powders that neutralize pet odor contain live enzymes that permanently remove bacteria and protein that cause bad odor. After cleaning a problem area, sprinkle with the product to attain a fresh smell.

2. New technologies: An ultraviolet vacuum cleaner is the obsessive cleaner’s dream for fighting germs and bacteria. Same thing with a backlight bacteria detector that analyzes every inch of space that you missed cleaning.

Your carpet may be 10 years old, but through regular cleaning and proper maintenance it still works well as a provider of style and comfort in your home. However, likely problems can arise after you’ve maximized the use of your carpet for a long time. Common issues include rust stains, mold, or even indentations from long-standing furniture in the carpet.

You may notice one of the problems listed above, especially if you decide to rearrange the layout of a room or do some remodeling in your house. After furniture has been positioned in a particular area for some time it tends to leave a dent in the carpet. These indentations are left by the furniture’s weight on the table legs or something like the solid shape of the bottom of a dresser.

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) says that the spot often can bounce back into its original level once the weight is lifted off its surface. This will allow the pile and carpet backing to readjust. If the indentation doesn’t self-correct, you can try vacuuming and brushing the area lightly with a pile grooming brush. If this still doesn’t work, you can try covering the area with a damp towel and then steam ironing over it. Iron for a few seconds then brush the area while it is still warm.

These techniques work well on nylon pile carpet, which, according to the IICRC, 70% of residential homes have. However, the IIRC warns that olefin Berber carpet or commercial carpet made from level-loop olefin is non-resilient, making indentations permanent.
To prevent these indentations from happening, regular rearrangement of the furniture or even a slight shift in their positions from time to time is recommended. Moving the furniture around will spread the weight on the floor evenly. There are also carpet protectors called furniture cups or glides that homeowners can place on the legs of their furniture so that sharp and defined edges don’t poke the carpet material. Even home items such as coffee jar lids can be recycled as furniture casters. With regular maintenance and a little creative thinking, the only impression you’ll ever get regarding your carpet will be from your friends who will most likely be impressed with it’s durability.
